This is the premiere issue of the Wet
Seal catalog (2 issues only ever
produced). I did all production, style
sheets, and management and transferral
of low-res to high-res film scans cover
to cover. Approximately 28 pages.

Arden B Mailer
For this Valentine's Day 2007
promotional mailer, I did all production
for this 4/C job with a 5th spot metallic
silver (PMS 801). This meant creating
the text and chains first as vector in
Illustrator, then taking it into Photoshop
with the spot layer called out by itself
for separations when it went to the print
house (Meridian Graphics, who did a
spectacular job). Not pictured here: I did
the same production for collateral
pieces, including a 22”W x 28”H Easel
Sign and a window display static for the
front of all Arden B stores (in which the
chain ran from the top to the bottom of
the window).
Arden B Bagstuffer
In addition to all production for this
bagstuffer produced for February 2007, I
was in charge of directing all high-res
retouching through our color house
(Graphic Industries).
Hyundai Newsletter, view 1
While freelancing for Carlson Marketing
Group in Long Beach, CA, I was in charge
of all production for the 7 versions of
the Hyundai quarterly 8-page newsletter.
I created one Quark document with a
common layer to fuse together all
elements consistent to the 7 versions,
and then put the interchangeable
elements (depending on which car was
the featured version) on independent
layers so that one file could go to the
printer with consistency in every version
across the board. I also re-built the hi-
res art for the front covers, taking the
car images and combining them with
vector art. Despite this being a mostly
“production” job, I share this one to
show my attention to detail and the fact
when I create/build my art, whether on
my own or taking someone else’s work,
my goal is to work smarter — not harder
— right from the beginning.

KIA incentive package, view 1
I worked on this incentive package
targeting KIA dealers, while I freelanced
at Carlson Marketing Group in Long
Beach, CA. The goal was to sell custom
travel vacation packages as a reward to
the highest-grossing KIA dealers who
sold the most cars at each location
(being that Carlson Marketing is part of
Carlson Travel Worldwide, they put
together packages and then pitched
them to the company to work with them
as a whole). This was a professionally
printed, bound and mailed booklet that
not only detailed out the travel plans (a
week-long vacation, with 3 options for
KIA to choose from as the final reward
for their employees), but also doubled
as a stand-up calendar with gorgeous
tropical imagery that they could place
on their desks as incentive.

This page shows another view of this
project. I did the production on this
complicated piece from cover to cover.
(including the tabs, the co-ordination of
the aquisition and subsequent placement
of all hi-res imagery and creation of the
3-dimensional package envelope with
die-cut window) For more about this
piece, see view 1.

Lincoln Navigation Promo
I designed and did the production for
this while I freelanced at Y&R/impiric
(formerly known as Y&R/wcj) in Irvine,
CA in 2000. This was a 8-page folded
brochure piece promoting the Lincoln
On-Board Navigation System.
Lincoln/Mercury Newsletter, side 1
I did all the production for this Lincoln/
Mercury AdPeek 3-panel z-fold
newsletter, 2-sided. One of my first
production pieces while freelancing at
Y&R/impiric (formerly known as Y&R/
wcj) in Irvine, CA in 1999-2000.

Bard Stinger Promo Folder
I assisted on production for this folder
with a special die-cut inside and
informational card insert, detailing the
benefits of the Bard Abalation Catheter. I
did this while at KPA (Koppes, Partners
and Associates), a medical advertising
agency, where I freelanced as needed
from approximately 2000-2001. (as a
side note, I have also freelanced for
DevicePharm, another medical
advertising agency in Orange County,
CA).
Arlon Promo Mailer
I made necessary artistic edits to and
re-created hi-res art for this pre-existing
piece and subsequently did all the
production for this mailer for Arlon, a
company in Fountain Valley, CA, that
specializes in custom substrates and
vinyl for display units for numerous
companies around the world. I have
freelanced for them over the years
(approximately 2003 - present) as
necessary as an off-site project.
SpecSeals Brochure, side 1
This was an 8.5"W x 11.0"H brochure I
designed from scratch for SpecSeals, a
company specializing in o-ring and
custom-molded rubber seals; the images
were also taken specifically for this
project by a local photographer. The
goal was to promote awareness to
potential clients about the services
SpecSeals provides and the wide range
their products are implemented in. As
SpecSeals had no real logo, I wanted to
create a recognizable, clean and brand-
appropriate icon that could be used
across other printed pieces as well.
Finished piece had a high-gloss UV
coating/aqueous finish.

Bodycentre Brochure, side 1
This is an 8.5 x 11 tri-fold brochure that
I am very proud of...I not only designed
it from top to bottom and did all
production, but I also took almost all of
the pictures as well. Although I have
been doing brochures and mailers for
select locations of the BodyCentre chain
in OC since the late 1990s, this piece
constituted a whole new overhaul in
look, colors, and feel. The goal was to
create a feel of serenity with a Zen-like
quality. Final piece was 4/C-process. I
carried this new look over into the
mailers and while I did not design the
website, my elements (including many of
my images) were used for brand
consistency and can be seen at http://

Bodycentre Valentine's Mailer
An example of an oversize postcard
mailer that I designed and did
production for, for the Orange/Riverside
locations of the Bodycentre Dayspa
Chain. As can be seen with the
Bodycentre tri-fold brochures, these
represent a new look and feel for the
company and my goal was to keep it
brand-consistent to the other pieces I
designed for them. For many years, I
produced about 4 - 5 mailers a year,
which helped to generate a lot of extra
business/income for them. Final piece
for mailers I tried to usually keep to 2-3
color to minimize printing costs.

Informational In-Office Sheet
This was an 8.5 x 11 2-sided color-laser
sheet that we produced 2 slightly
different versions of. One was for in-
office display to give to patients, the
other more geared towards other
doctors. This was for a plastic surgeon
in OC, CA, who specializes in
reconstructive Ear, Nose & Throat
surgery, as well as sinus surgery. He had
been featured as a Physician of
Excellence in Orange Coast Magazine in
2007, so the goal was not only to
inform patients of his training and
accolades (on the back of the sheet),
but also to give the patient more
information about his methodology and
range of services.
ReMax Mailer
Oversize postcard mailer; images were
taken by a local photographer. I did all
design and production on this piece, to
promote the ReMax realtors in Fullerton,
CA in 2001. Obviously, the goal was to
bring in more potential clients, showing
properties affiliated with this particular
office, but also to keep brand consistent
with the ReMax corporate image already
established (I was able to download
official logos through the ReMax
website).
Mailer, Promo Piece & Biz Card
I designed these oversized postcard
mailers and promo pieces for a
photographer in Fullerton, CA. One card
was to promote his portraiture work, the
other more to promote family pictures. I
also designed his logo and business
card; the goal with the logo was to
feature his name prominently for instant
recognition and simplicity, but I wanted
to incorporate a hint of something iconic
to represent photography in the logo
itself. In the end, I created a "swish"
that looks like a subtle shadow behind
the logo, emulating a "P" for
photography, but also to look
reminiscent of an aperture found in a
camera lens.
