I created this for the quarterly in-house
Human Resources luncheon presented for
all of The Wet Seal, Inc for April 2007.
We produced 22” x 28” Easel Signs (on
the left), a 48” x 72” Banner, and
approximately 15 11” x 17” posters to
display around the building to inform the
employees of the date and time of the
meeting. I did this art from scratch using
inspiration from old travel posters,
which I wanted to put a more modern,
glossy spin on, while keeping the
simplicity of the Wet Seal and Arden B
brands, and fusing them to be of equal
importance/weight.

Informational In-Office Sheet
This was an 8.5 x 11 2-sided color-laser
sheet that we produced 2 slightly
different versions of. One was for in-
office display to give to patients, the
other more geared towards other
doctors. This was for a plastic surgeon
in OC, CA, who specializes in
reconstructive Ear, Nose & Throat
surgery, as well as sinus surgery. He had
been featured as a Physician of
Excellence in Orange Coast Magazine in
2007, so the goal was not only to
inform patients of his training and
accolades (on the back of the sheet),
but also to give the patient more
information about his methodology and
range of services, while maintaining a
professional yet approachable demeanor.
Bodycentre Brochure, side 1
This is an 8.5 x 11 tri-fold brochure that
I am very proud of...I not only designed
it from top to bottom and did all
production, but I also took almost all of
the pictures as well. Although I have
been doing brochures and mailers for
select locations of the BodyCentre chain
in OC since the late 1990s, this piece
constituted a whole new overhaul in
look, colors, and feel. The goal was to
create a feel of serenity with a Zen-like
quality. Final piece was 4/C-process. I
carried this new look over into the
mailers and while I did not design the
website, my elements (including many of
my images) were used for brand
consistency and can be seen at http://

Bodycentre Valentine's Mailer
An example of an oversize postcard
mailer that I designed and did
production for, for the Orange/Riverside
locations of the Bodycentre Dayspa
Chain. As can be seen with the
Bodycentre tri-fold brochures, these
represent a new look and feel for the
company and my goal was to keep it
brand-consistent to the other pieces I
designed for them. For many years, I
produced about 4 - 5 mailers a year,
which helped to generate a lot of extra
business/income for them. Final piece
for mailers I tried to usually keep to 2-3
color to minimize printing costs.

Swatch Books
These are production pieces I did for
Arlon, a company in Fountain Valley, CA,
that specializes in custom substrates
and vinyl for display units for numerous
companies around the world. The piece
on the right is similar to a Pantone book,
but in this case for Arlon-specific color
substrate options. I did all text front
and back for not only the covers, but the
internal pages of this book, and had to
figure out FPO placement of the color
chips, which were placed in during the
printing process. The piece on the left
was a larger swatch book, in which I
created all tabs and refined the artistic
layout and specified the production of
the book.
Arlon Promo Mailer
I made necessary artistic edits to and
re-created hi-res art for this pre-existing
piece and subsequently did all the
production for this mailer for Arlon, a
company in Fountain Valley, CA, that
specializes in custom substrates and
vinyl for display units for numerous
companies around the world. In doing
this piece, I had to keep the same look
and feel consistent across the board
with the other pieces Arlon produces. I
have freelanced for them over the years
(approximately 2003 - present) as
necessary as an off-site project.
Salon Design Package
This is a good example of branding/
identity and a design package all in one
for Salon Benardo in Fullerton, CA; they
specialize as an Aveda Concept Salon,
serving the needs of everything from hair
cuts & hair color to skin care/facials to
massage. Utilizing pictures taken
specifically for them by a local
photographer, I designed a new menu of
services, thank-you cards, appointment
cards and business cards. In addition to
doing all the design for this from
scratch, I also worked directly with the
printer to determine paper choice and
control over printing in 4/C while
emulating a 2/C job (but using laser 4/C
to save costs).
SpecSeals Brochure, side 1
This was an 8.5"W x 11.0"H brochure I
designed from scratch for SpecSeals, a
company specializing in o-ring and
custom-molded rubber seals; the images
were also taken specifically for this
project by a local photographer. The
goal was to promote awareness to
potential clients about the services
SpecSeals provides and the wide range
their products are implemented in. As
SpecSeals had no real logo, I wanted to
create a recognizable, clean and brand-
appropriate icon that could be used
across other printed pieces as well.
Finished piece had a high-gloss UV
coating/aqueous finish.

Letterhead/Logo/Business Card Set
I was asked to create this set for a very
talented interior designer/artist by the
name of Kevin E. Young. He wanted to
tie together the idea of his initials to his
tagline "KEY Elements in Design". He
wanted a card with a more textural,
tactile sensation, which reinforced his
design qualities. I picked out my favorite
paper samples and let him pick the final;
I conceptualized the idea behind design
and used a font which characterized a
feel of "drafting" and the process that
an interior designer goes through in
crafting a new look for a room or rooms.
My other font choice for his name was
one that looked reminiscent of
handwriting. His only other request was
a non-traditional card design, which
would demand more attention because it
WAS non-traditional. Eventually, I used
this same concept for my own business
cards. The final was the set you see
here, a 1/C print job.
Band Promo Materials
These are some various examples of
band promo flyers and CD demo covers,
etc. Also, there are a variety of items in
which the band logos I've created have
been placed on (for example, as seen
here, on a matchbook cover. Not
pictured: also on shot glasses, bumper
stickers, tshirts/tank tops). I have been
working with local bands since the late
1990s, as music is a passion of mine
and I've always believed in helping out
those that I truly believe in.
The challenge with bands is to not only
create a visually recognizable logo that
can be linked immediately to a particular
group, but to make it "brand-
appropriate" (or in this case, BAND-
appropriate!); that is, to capture the feel
of the music/band's image to the look
and feel the logo evokes.
ReMax Mailer
Oversize postcard mailer; images were
taken by a local photographer. I did all
design and production on this piece, to
promote the ReMax realtors in Fullerton,
CA in 2001. Obviously, the goal was to
bring in more potential clients, showing
properties affiliated with this particular
office, but also to keep brand consistent
with the ReMax corporate image already
established (I was able to download
official logos through the ReMax
website).
Mailer, Promo Piece & Biz Card
I designed these oversized postcard
mailers and promo pieces for a
photographer in Fullerton, CA. One card
was to promote his portraiture work, the
other more to promote family pictures. I
also designed his logo and business
card; the goal with the logo was to
feature his name prominently for instant
recognition and simplicity, but I wanted
to incorporate a hint of something iconic
to represent photography in the logo
itself. In the end, I created a "swish"
that looks like a subtle shadow behind
the logo, emulating a "P" for
photography, but also to look
reminiscent of an aperture found in a
camera lens.
